Outpost Activities
Outpost Activities: An Invitation to Play!
As many of you already know, the Outpost rounds out its full complement of superb artists who play for us, with its activities which allow Outpost folk to play with each other. We like to think that play is the arena in which friendships are forged, spirits refreshed, and new ideas are born. An esteemed writer once said,
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities." - Dr. Seuss
How can you help the Activities and Event Leadership Committee? Easy! By joining us for events; contacting me about ideas (yes, even to volunteer to lead an activity!); volunteering to serve on the committee in any capacity; giving your feedback about activities you have participated in -- there are so many different ways and a great opportunity to learn about the workings of the Outpost. Retreats? What's your opinion? Theme nights? Let us know.
Got a great idea for an activity that you would like to lead or be a participant in this fall? Call Joyce at 973-744-6560 to share your idea.

We're using a new drumming location — the Sanctuary of the
First Congregational Church. Enter the door off the Plymouth
Street driveway, closest to the street. Thanks!
Read the NY Times article on Richard Reiter, leader of our Spiritual Drumming sessions!
Interest continues to abound in this opportunity to explore drumming and percussion in an atmosphere of fun, openness and spirituality. Richard Reiter, a nationally acclaimed jazz musician who has studied drumming in Dakar, Senegal, invites adults and mature teenagers to join him for a "joyous feeling of unity and power." No musical training is necessary. Richard supplies drums, but you are encouraged to bring your own drums and percussion instruments. $7 includes refreshments.
Kindly note: This activity is for adults and mature teenagers only!
To receive e-mailed drumming updates as well as notices on the latest additions to the Outpost schedule write the Outpost at activities@outpostintheburbs.org.
